Approve and authorize the Chair to enter into an agreement with the California Department of Justice for funding in the amount of $139,107 for the period of November 1, 2023 through June 30, 2027 for the Tobacco Grant Program funding and adopt a resolution authorizing acceptance and execution of the agreement. Recommended Action
Approve and authorize the Chair to enter into an agreement with California Department of Justice for funding in the amount of $139,107 for the period of November 1, 2023 through June 30, 2027 for the Tobacco Grant Program funding;
Adopt a resolution authorizing acceptance and execution of the agreement;
Authorize the Procurement Manager, or designee, to enter into any financial or non-financial amendments and revisions of the Agreement, including attachments, exhibits, and forms, upon approval as to form by County Counsel; and
Authorize the Director, or designee, to prepare and sign any financial or program reports required by the Agreement.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The purpose of this grant is for the County to be reimbursed for costs associated with increasing retailer knowledge of local and state tobacco control laws and increasing retailer compliance with local and state tobacco laws. With the adoption of recent local and State laws banning the sale of flavored tobacco, these funds will allow for additional personnel to help with the enforcement aspects of these new laws.
Accepting this funding and executing the Board Resolution will allow the County to ensure retailers of tobacco products are properly educated in tobacco control laws, which will help to keep youth and others in the County safe.
