Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The County reached a tentative agreement with the Sheriff's Safety Management Association and that MOU is included as Attachment A. The primary changes include vacation accrual (Section 12.4), elimination of vacation buy back (Section 12.5.1), participation in employer-paid retirement costs (Section 10.1.3), sick leave changes to comply with the Kin Care Act (Article 14), and retiree medical trust (Section 16.8). Cost of living adjustments are provided in 2017, 2018 and 2020 with an equity adjustment of 3% for Captains classification in the 2017-18 fiscal year and a total compensation survey in 2019. |

The four-year fiscal impact of recommended action is $210,357. While the entire amount is not a general fund expense and other funds are utilized, the general fund is the backup for public safety expenditures.
