- Hold a public hearing and receive comments regarding the application for the BJA Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to provide $41,226 in funding for the Department's collaborative prosecution, which concentrates on Data-Driven Intervention methods;
- Adopt a resolution granting authority for the District Attorney to apply, on behalf of Yolo County, for 2017-2018 funding from the BJA Byrne JAG Program ; and
- Authorize the Chair to sign agreements with the City of Woodland and the City of West Sacramento for the 2017 BJA Byrne JAG Program award.

| Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
| The District Attorneys' office has been receiving the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) since fiscal year 1990-1991. In the past, these funds have been used to support the District Attorney's Anti-Drug Abuse Program. In fiscal year 2017-2018, the District Attorney's office will be shifting our focus towards collaborative prosecution which will concentrate on Data-Driven Intervention. The City of Woodland and the City of West Sacramento have agreed that these funds should be used to support the District Attorney's Data-Driven Intervention and the grant will be used to fund a portion of a Deputy District Attorney III. |

The Chiefs of the Woodland Police Department and the West Sacramento Police Department have signed an MOU allowing the Yolo County District Attorney to receive the funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program.
County Council has approved the resolution to form.
Data-Driven Intervention methods, which include collaborations with local law enforcement agencies (LEA), have proven to be a benefit with LEA's as well as the citizens of Yolo County. |
