Recommended Action
  1. Amend the 2017-18 Authorized Equipment List;
     
  2. Approve a replacement vehicle purchase for the Public Defender's office; and
     
  3. Adopt a budget resolution to increase appropriations.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The 2017-18 Authorized Equipment List was approved by the Board on June 13, 2017 as part of the 2017-18 Recommended Budget.  Since that time, an existing vehicle in the Public Defender's office was in an accident and was considered a total loss by the insurance company.  The vehicle replacement will be funded by insurance reimbursement and existing budget appropriations; no additional funding will be needed. The budget resolution is to increase appropriations by $23,957, the amount received from the insurance reimbursement.

The cost of the vehicle replacement is $26,000.  The County will receive $20,657 in insurance money and a salvage check for $3,300.  The department will absorb the County's share of the costs $2,043 within their existing appropriations and will not need additional funding for this purchase.
