Due to changes in the construction and demolition's operation near the Results Radio tower, increase in dust has caused an increase in the maintenance cost. The recommended action will reduce the annual payment that Results Radio pays to the County, which will help cover a portion of the maintenance costs.
Background
On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved a Use Permit to allow Results Radio to construct and operate a radio broadcast tower facility at the Yolo County Central Landfill. On May 3, 2011 the first amendment to Results Radio was approved by the Board of Supervisors allowing Results Radio to construct and operate a freestanding tower instead of a guy-wired tower. This reduced the total foot-print of the tower and the location was moved approximately 150 feet northwest of the original location in the agreement. The new location was outside of the Waste Management facility and reduced the potential of interference with other facilities nearby. As a result of increased dust created from the nearby construction and demolition operation, Results Radio had to acquire additional maintenance service for the air conditioning equipment. The additional maintenance cost will be shared by Yolo County and Results Radio.
