Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
In March 2012, the County was awarded $2,896,000 from California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services as part of the Statewide Park Program for the Esparto Community Park and Aquatic Center Project. The County is in the process of purchasing a one acre parcel and has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Esparto School District for the long-term use of a six acre parcel. Together these properties will be used for development of a little league baseball field, adult/youth soccer field, competition pool, wading pool, basketball court, and community use structure.
Project design will be completed in September 2017 and construction bidding will occur October through November 2017. Construction will begin in November 2017 and be completed by November 2018. Due to the existing workload in Capital Projects (primarily the jail construction projects), there is insufficient staffing to manage the Esparto park project. On May 12, 2017, the Board approved a contract with Kitchell for on-call consulting services (Attachment A) and staff recommends approval of a work authorization under this contract to provide construction management services as outlined in the attached scope of services (Attachment B) in the amount of $107,000 for the period of October 1, 2017 through November 1, 2018. |
