Approve Agreement # FS-15-15 with the 40th District Agricultural Association to furnish security from August 19 through August 24, 2015, during the 2015 Yolo County Fair.
Strategic Plan Goal(s)
Collaborate to maximize success
Preserve and ensure safe and crime free communities
Provide fiscally sound, dynamic and responsive services
Reason for Recommended Action/Background
As these agreements are being made between two government entities, approval by the Board of Supervisors is required for the Sheriff’s Department to provide fair security during the 2015 Yolo County Fair. The county has provided Yolo County Fair with security services for more than forty (40) years. This revenue agreement has been in existence since 1991. Prior to 1991, the Sheriff’s Patrol Budget absorbed the cost of providing fair security. The 40th District Agricultural Association fair manager submitted the proposed contracts to the Fair Board and received approval to authorize the contracts. Due to state budget constraints, there will be no service agreement with the Probation Department as in past years.

The presence of Yolo County deputies at the County Fair ensures that all members of the public have a safe experience when visiting.  In 2014 deputies responded to a total of 71 incidents while on fair security detail. In addition to security services Yolo County deputies delivered assistance on 6 medical aid calls, and reunited 13 lost children with their parents.
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)
The contracts as developed represent the consensus of the 40th District Agricultural Association and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the contracts as to form. YCPARMIA has assisted with insurance issues.
