Reason for Recommended Action/Background
In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, at the request of the Public Defender's Office, the General Services Department purchased and installed permitter fencing along the south wall of the property located at the corner of North and 4th Streets in Woodland.  Currently the department is requesting two electronic security gates to be added to the staff parking lot on the northeast side of the building, providing increased safety for staff, clients, staff vehicles, and vehicles utilized by the Public Defender.

Though previous fencing in the south lot has reduced security incidents and concerns on the property, both Public Defender and General Services recommend placement of two electronic gates, with remote access, for increased security. Quotes for purchase and installation of the electronic security gates were solicited in compliance with Department of Financial Services policies and procedures.

Funding for this project is being requested via Safety and Security Contingency Funds.
