Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
On May 9, 2017 the Board adopted a resolution of intention to establish the Yolo County Tourism Business Improvement District (District). The District is a benefit assessment district to fund marketing and public relations and community marketing programs for unincorporated Yolo County and the cities of Davis, Winters and Woodland lodging businesses. The annual assessment rate shall be two percent (2%) of gross room rental revenue. This approach has been used successfully in other destination areas throughout the state to improve tourism and drive additional room nights. The proposed District includes all lodging businesses, located within the boundaries of unincorporated Yolo County and the cities of Davis, Winters and Woodland.
This item is to allow for public testimony on the formation of the District and levy of assessments pursuant to Government Code section 54954.6. No Board action is required at this time. A final public hearing and adoption of a resolution of formation is scheduled for the June 27, 2017 Board meeting. The staff report from the May 9 Board meeting as well as all related attachments, letters of support, and presentations are included for the Board's edification (Att. A). |
