| Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
These vehicles are needed for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) staff. The new vehicles will be used on a daily basis in transporting staff and, on occasion, clients to and from appointments or assessment related activities.
The IHSS staff completes over 3,000 home visits per year. Currently, IHSS staff does not have enough vehicles for staff working in the field. The scope of IHSS has grown and is expected to continue to grow over the next several fiscal years. Over the last three fiscal years, IHSS has experienced an 18% increase in the number of people served.
Approval of this budget resolution will allow IHSS staff to continue to provide services to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals receiving Medi-Cal benefits who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without assistance. |
