Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
During the 2016-17 Adopted Budget hearing, the Board set aside $100,000 in a Safety and Security Contingency fund in order to allow departments to request monies with which to enhance the security of their facilities and staff. This request seeks funding for a commonly used privacy service cost for investigators and prosecutors which removes their names, home addresses and other sensitive personal information from the internet. The subscription service, Privacy for Cops (www.privacyforcops.org), is able to protect sworn law-enforcement officers, public officials and their families per the California government code 6254.21. With a specially negotiated rate of $65 per person, the District Attorney requests Safety and Security Contingency Funds in the amount of $3,315 to provide this service for 51 qualifying employees. With the authorization for use of Safety & Security Contingency funds, we request adoption of the attached budget resolution adjusting the District Attorney's budget to reflect an increase of $3,315 to implement these subscriptions. |
