Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
At the April 25, 2017 Board meeting, the Board adopted a policy governing the use of the $1.5m in one-time funds provided by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation through the renewed County-Tribe intergovernmental agreement. The policy equally divided the funds for the following purposes: State Route 16 Corridor Improvement Fund (funds expended), Rural Initiatives Fund ($105,000 remaining), Matching Fund Contingency ($35,495 remaining).
Staff has identified three projects in need of funding that meet the purposes of the Board's policy:
Tuli Mem Park Picnic Tables and Benches ($5,000- Matching Fund Contingency)- Grant matching funds to Northern California Construction Trades for the construction of twelve picnic tables and six benches at Tuli Mem Park.
Grasslands Regional Park ($60,000- Rural Initiatives) - The County has an existing grant from the Habitat Conservation Fund for improvements (ADA access, parking lot, shade structure, interpretive panels, etc) to Grasslands Regional Park. The grant was secured in 2017 and provides $107,000 for these improvements. The total project cost was estimated at $214,000 (with the grant constituting 50% of the total project cost). However, now that formal quotes have been solicited, the project faces a $60,000 shortfall.
Knights Landing Speed Bumps ($45,000, Rural Initiatives)- Knights Landing community members have requested the installation of six speed bumps along Railroad to calm traffic. Community Services will reach out the Knights Landing Fire Protection District prior to the installation to ensure the district is supportive.
Approval of these projects requires a budget resolution (Att. A) and 4/5 vote. Should all three projects be approved, $30,495 would remain within the Grant Matching Contingency Fund. The Tribal Subcommittee reviewed these projects and is supportive. |
