In November 2014, the District Attorney's Office applied for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant through the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) and was awarded the grant in February 2015. This grant was awarded for a three year period starting March 1, 2015 and ending December 31, 2017 The awarded grant funds are being used to expand the District Attorney's Neighborhood Court Restorative Justice Program into the City of West Sacramento, the City of Woodland, and the homeless population within Yolo County. The focus of this program is to bring the offender back into the communities of Yolo County by focusing on the social harms rather than the crime itself. Currently, this program has almost 200 citizen volunteers and has handled over 1,000 cases in Davis, Woodland, and West Sacramento combined.
Many different counties were awarded the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant back in February 2015 to fund one of their unique programs. For the first year the BSCC anticipated that many counties would be unable to utilize their full allocations due to the lag time of getting people hired. After analyzing all the unspent grant funds in 2015, the BSCC allowed each county awarded the grant to apply for additional funds for the 2016 grant year. Through this application, the District Attorney's office was awarded an additional $56,417. |

To be successful, the District Attorney Neighborhood Court Restorative Justice Program collaborates with many partners. These partners include, Health and Human Services, the Neighborhood Court Steering Committee, University of California Davis, the City of Davis, the City of West Sacramento, and the Yolo Conflict Resolution Center.
County Counsel has reviewed the budget resolution and approved to form. Department of Financial Services has review the budget resolution and approved. |

| In July 2016, the Board of State and Community Corrections awarded the District Attorney's office an additional $56,417 for the 2016 grant year. This grant, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant which was originally awarded to the DA's office in February 2015, was awarded for a three year period and runs on a calendar year. This additional funding is a one-time commitment. |
