In response to the Board of Supervisors' desire to deepen its knowledge of California's Child Welfare Services system, to ensure improved outcomes for families and individuals that come in contact with Yolo County's Child Welfare Services (CWS) program, and in support of the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan focus on "expanding best practices in programs benefiting children", a series of workshops were developed in 2016 to examine practices, policy, procedure and best practice in Yolo County. In addition to the workshops, a Board Ad Hoc Subcommittee was appointed to structure the workshops and track recommended action items. As a result of the workshops, a Child Welfare Action Plan was developed with recommendations for strengthening policy and practice in Yolo County.
The purpose of this update is to provide a summary of the progress made in the Child Welfare Services Action Plan since the last Board workshop. Additionally, this agenda item will provide an opportunity for the Board to consider recommendations from the Child Welfare Services Ad Hoc Subcommittee, including the recommendation to re-designate the existing Ad Hoc Subcommittee as a standing Child Welfare Services Subcommittee. |
