| Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
At their February 21, 2017 meeting, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors took action to waive the first reading of an ordinance that would eliminate the sunset date of the nighttime ban on OHV use in Cache Creek. The current sunset date is February 25, 2017. A failure to repeal the sunset date will terminate the nighttime ban ordinance.
Staff views the nighttime ban as beneficial for the following reasons:
- Reduction in number of complaints
- Reduction in issues of trespass and vandalism experienced by creek-side landowners
- No citations for violating nighttime ban
- Reduction of noise
- Reduction in strain on public safety resources
For these reasons, staff recommends that the Board approve this ordinance, making the nighttime ban permanent. |

| On-going collaboration on OHV issues occurs regularly with County Counsel, the Sheriff's Office, the Office of the District Attorney, the Parks Division, the Department of Community Services, and the landowners, environmental groups and non-profits located along Cache Creek. |
