Reason for Recommended Action/Background
REASON FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION

This amendment will allow for extra tree trimming work in public rights-of-way performed by West Coast Arborists, Inc. due to recent storms.

BACKGROUND

In 2016, West Coast Arborists, Inc. was selected to provide tree trimming services along County roads following a competitive process.  Agreement 5555-2017-3011 currently provides for up to $90,000 of tree trimming services for this fiscal year, with an option to extend for up to 3 additional years if contract prices and service are acceptable to the County.  The amount expended will depend on the amount of tree work directed by the County.

The recent storms and declared disaster have resulted in a significant amount of additional tree removal work along County roads, well beyond that experienced in a typical year.  This amendment will increase the annual and total contract amounts to provide for the extra services required due to this year’s storms.
