Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The California Rangeland Trust has requested a resolution of support for their purchase of two conservation easements on part of the land owned by the Rominger family just north of Winters. The attached map shows the location of the two easements and the associated APNs (Att. A).
The more northerly conservation easement (Easement A) is approximately 467 acres of irrigated cropland and rangeland as shown on the attached map. The first easement acquisition is to be funded by the State of California Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program, which is the program that requires a Board of Supervisors’ resolution in support of the purchase (Att. B). The second easement (Easement B) is adjacent to and just south of the first easement, and is comprised of approximately 1,911 acres of rangeland. The Easement B acquisition will be funded by the State of California Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program and the Natural Resources Conservation Service Agricultural Conservation Easement Program. The Agricultural Commissioner is supportive of the conservation easements. |
