Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
This presentation will provide an update on the potential effects of the proposed repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act on CommuniCare Health Centers, including impacts on CommuniCare patients and the overall community.
As stated in Attachment A, Medi-Cal is the cornerstone of California's health care system for the low-income population. Medi-Cal is funded with both State and Federal dollars, and provides health care services to more than 13 million low-income Californians, including children, working parents, seniors and others. Enrollment in Medi-Cal increased by several million after state policymakers fully implemented the Affordable Care Act in 2014, in part by expanding coverage to low-income parents and other adults who were previously ineligible. As of January of 2016, Yolo County had 59,814 Medi-Cal enrollees, which constituted 27.9% of the County's total population. |
