Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
In September 2018, the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library (FERL) were awarded a grant for $36,108 from the Yocha Dehe Community Fund for enhancements to the Esparto Regional Library. The Friends of the Esparto Regional Library subsequently provided $40,120 to the Yolo County Library, consisting of the $36,108 of grant funds from the Yocha Dehe Community Fund and an additional $4,012 match from the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library.
Funds will be used to purchase digital signage in the lobby, along with enhancements to the Wintun Room including the purchase of stackable chairs, Chromebooks, and an upgraded audio-video system. The audio-video system will be built into the room and user-friendly, reducing staff involvement when the room is used by the public, and will allow for separate use when the room is divided for two simultaneous programs. The stackable chairs will free up floor-space when not in use, and the Chromebooks will allow the public to participate in technology classes. |
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies) |
In early 2018, the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library collected 471 responses in a community engagement survey about library programming. The enhancements provided through this funding will improve the Library’s ability to offer classes that meet the community’s needs as identified in the survey, such as computer skills training and English as a Second Language classes, and will enhance other recreational or educational programming, such as sports, gaming, family movie screenings, and arts & crafts. Funding for the project has been provided by the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library and the Yocha Dehe Community Fund. |
