Subject
Hold public hearing, adopt resolution authorizing the purchase and execution of agreement with Pedro C. Juarez and Oralia G. Juarez for real property located in Yolo at 14184 2nd Street for $200,000; and adopt budget resolution adjusting the Yolo Library Construction Budget by $200,000. (No general fund impact) (4/5 vote required) (Yarris)
Recommended Action
  1. Hold public hearing, receive comments on the purchase of real property;
     
  2. Adopt resolution authorizing the purchase of real property located at 14184 2nd Street in Yolo;
     
  3. Adopt budget resolution adjusting the Yolo Library Construction fiscal year 2017-2018 budget to represent an increase of $200,000;
     
  4. Authorize the Chair to sign the purchase and sale agreement between Yolo County and Pedro C. Juarez and Oralia G. Juarez and to execute the grand deed and certificate of conveying; and
     
  5. Authorize the County Administrator or the Assistant County Administrator or their designees to take all further actions necessary to complete the acquisition, including signing escrow instructions.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The subject property, 14184 2nd Street, in Yolo, will allow for construction of a new larger library in the future (subject to future Board approval after the completion of environmental review).  The existing facility, constructed in 1925, is undersized for the population it currently serves.  Due to structural issues with the current historical library, a portable library is being built in the current parking lot as a temporary location.
