Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
On May 4, 2016, Governor Jerry Brown signed a pack of bills that raised the smoking age in California from 18 to 21, restricted the use of electronic cigarettes in public places and expanded no-smoking areas at public schools effective June 9, 2016. An unintended consequence of this action was to also raise the age of those permitted to engage in Tobacco Retailing in Yolo County. Once adopted, this Ordinance will return the minimum age for Tobacco Retailing to eighteen (18). |
