| Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
Pursuant to Board direction at the July 26, 2016 Board meeting, create a agricultural labor task force.
The purpose of this ad-hoc board subcommittee is to evaluate strategies that can be implemented locally to support agricultural farm workers and a healthy sustainable agricultural industry. Examples include strengthening access to medical care, housing, food security, transportation, and educational opportunities for those employed in farm labor. The committee will work with local stakeholders including Yolo County agricultural workers, the Yolo County Farm Bureau and other related interests to identify local needs and possible solutions. The subcommittee will report back to the Board with its findings in spring of 2017. |
