Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The County is a member of Public Risk Innovation, Solutions, and Management (PRISM) Joint Powers Authority. PRISM provides certain insurance policies for the County (Aircraft, Medical Malpractice, Dental and Airport) and through Yolo County Public Agency Risk Management Insurance Authority (YCPARMIA). Yolo County participates in their excess pool for our property and worker's compensation insurance. In addition to providing coverage to counties, PRISM provides coverage, services, and resources to K-12 schools, community colleges, and universities in California. The excess pool covers claims in property and worker compensation beyond a set limit. Below that limit, claims are covered by our self-insured YCPARMIA pool.
The County has one voting seat on the Board of Directors. Each of the 55 member counties as well as seven other entities make up the PRISM board. Due to their expertise in risk management, the Executive Director of YCPARMIA is our Board's appointee to the PRISM Board and the Assistant County Administrator is the alternate in the event the Executive Director is unavailable to attend PRISM Board meetings. With the transition in naming from the previous CSAC-EIA to PRISM, PRISM is requesting a resolution (Attachment A) confirming the Board's prior action appointing these positions to the now PRISM Board. |
