Community Workshops
Between July 14, 2021 and July 22, 2021, staff held four (4) community workshops to gather input regarding the American Rescue Plan (ARP). These workshop drew approximately 175 participants from within Yolo County, including both rural and urban areas. The purpose of these workshops was to inform the public about local ARP funds and their eligibility requirements, allow for public feedback regarding the ARP process, and to develop broad categories of interest to the community that would inform staff and the board as ARP expenditure plan development continues.
During each workshop, staff provided a brief presentation on ARP, engaged participants in an individual activity and then asked participants to engage in group work, which led to each group reporting out their collective categories of interest. Staff collected the materials from each meeting and are currently assembling a summary of feedback for future use.
Staff will provide the Board of Supervisors with a presentation with an update on the ARP community workshops and the trends that came out of these discussions with members of the public. This is anticipated to lead up to a conversation with the Board at the August 31 Board meeting, in which staff plan to provide an initial draft of recommended ARP uses. |
