Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for transporting individuals with Yolo County warrants who were arrested or detained in jurisdictions throughout the State of California back to Yolo County. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department operates a statewide prisoner transportation system with scheduled weekly trips throughout the State of California. The Sheriff’s Office currently has an agreement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for prisoner transport service, which is set to expire on June 30, 2019. The proposed intrastate agreement would allow the Sheriff’s office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to provide reciprocal prisoner transportation service for one another with no charges for said service unless a medical examination or treatment of transported prisoner is required en route. Reimbursement of said medical examination or treatment charges can then be invoiced.
Both the Sheriff’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reserve the right to refuse transportation of any prisoner who is mentally ill, sick, handicapped, disabled and/or injured. |
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies) |

Competitive Bid Process |
