Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $100,500 from the Department of California Highway Patrol to enhance the District Attorney's DUI program. (No general fund impact) (Reisig)
Recommended Action
  1. Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $100,500 from the Department of California Highway Patrol; and
     
  2. Authorize the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney to execute the grant award agreement including any and all amendments or extensions.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Yolo County District Attorney applied and was awarded the CHP Cannabis Tax Fund Law Enforcement Grant by the Department of California Highway Patrol. These funds will be used to enhance the District Attorney's DUI program.

The District Attorney's DUI program will be able to build on their current program by providing much needed equipment and training to local law enforcement agencies that participate in the DUI Task Force. This will allow for strong collaboration while continuing DUI/DUID enforcement, prosecution, and prevention.

The agencies participating in the DUI Task Force include Yolo County Sheriff's Office, West Sacrament PD, Davis PD, Woodland PD, Winters PD, and UC Davis PD.

This grant will be funding overtime and services/supplies. We will not be hiring any personnel with these grant funds.
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies)
These funds are being used to enhance the District Attorney's DUI program and used in collaboration with all local law enforcement agencies within Yolo County. Board resolution has been reviewed and approved by County Counsel.
