Reason for Recommended Action/Background

On January 26, 2021 the Board of Supervisors approved a restaurant fee waiver program to ease the financial burden of permit fees during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are many different types of food permits that the Division of Environmental Health issues. At the time of the proposal, restaurants, bars, restaurant/bar combination and bakeries were listed as those that would be eligible to apply for the program. On May 18, 2021 the Board of Supervisors approved including mobile food facilities as an eligible permit type for the program. Since then  Environmental Health has determined that all food facilities should be included in the program as all have suffered financially due to the pandemic similar to restaurants.

This minor expansion of the program will still be able to be performed within the current budget authorization of the Restaurant Fee Waiver Program.
