Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
Pre-regionalization, departments for child support services in Colusa, Sutter, and Yolo Counties each maintained individual bank accounts with US Bank. These accounts are used only to deposit and transmit child support payments made by customers to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) via Electronic Funds Transaction (EFT) or check. The regional agency has thus far maintained these separate accounts. This has been complicated by the fact that US Bank closed their Colusa branch and ATM, creating the need for costly travel by personnel to reach the nearest deposit location.
For improved operational efficiency, the Regional Child Support Agency would like to consolidate the three accounts into one and change banks. We are requesting approval to open a regional bank account with Wells Fargo as it maintains a local branch near each of our three offices. This will reduce travel time by personnel and a shared account will simplify payment reconciliation and transactions with the SDU. |
