Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
In August 2020, the California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”) provided a notice to the County of Yolo (“County”) of an allocation in the amount of $2,758,618 for the period of May 18, 2020 through November 17, 2022. These funds originated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (“CDC”) Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (“ELC”) program. CDPH subsequently allocated those ELC Enhancing Detection funds to local health departments to expand upon previous COVID-19 funding and activities to support the public health response to COVID-19 and lay the foundation for the future of public health surveillance. This allocation was initially managed by the County’s COVID-19 Response Operations Center (“CROC”), and the associated funds were included in the CROC Adopted Budget on September 29, 2020. However, Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (“HHSA”) will be assuming oversight of all aspects of this grant as of January 1, 2021, including the remaining funds for the current fiscal year. Staff recommends approval of the Budget Resolution to add ELC Enhancing Detection funding in the amount of $724,893 to the HHSA FY2020-21 Budget. |
