Received the following comments from CEO Lisa Baker:
- Mutual Housing California received final funding approvals Tuesday to build two new affordable housing communities, one of which will be the region’s first intentionally-welcoming affordable community for LGBT elders, and another for very low-income families in Yolo County. Construction on the two communities – Lavender Courtyard by Mutual Housing in Sacramento and Mutual Housing at 5th Street in Davis – is expected to begin in October. Both communities are expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2022. Mutual Housing California sent a thank you letter to YCH.
- As to the West Sac Housing Project with funding provided from the California Department of Housing and Community Development that awarded Yolo County two “No Place Like Home” grants totaling $12.4 million to build new permanent supportive housing for people living with a mental illness who are at risk of homelessness or who are homeless or chronically homeless, has been pushed to May to close. The 85 units are on track to begin construction in Fall 2021.
- The contract to build senior units in the City of Winters has been approved and is on schedule, with most of the underground utility work completed.
- Project for 20-25 units for first time buyers, partially financed with sweat equity, is moving forward, with the same developer as Esparto Neighborhood.
- Both the Davis and Madison Migrant Centers opened this week, and staff worked diligently to open safely using COVID-19 practices. Working with school districts for schooling, with chrome books being made available. Davis has provided MI-FI, portable hot spots in the chrome books and Madison is working on mesh network for 23 hot spots in Madison.
- Mentioned Volunteers of America is doing a joint venture with YCH in Woodland - stay tuned.
- Uptick in vandalism with the Stay-in-Place order.
- Inspections on 100 hotel rooms in last 3 weeks have been done.
