Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
On June 26, 2018 the Board of Supervisors approved an implementation plan for the operation of the Gibson house property as a cultural center managed by YoloArts. A component of the plan was to hire a Museum Curator for review and management of the 11,000 items in the Yolo County Historical Collection owned by the County. On October 15, 2018 the Museum Curator was hired to oversee the collection review and address preservation needs while ensuring the collection remained on-site at the property.
The ongoing process of organizing and re-housing the collection is in accordance with the Gibson House implementation plan objective 1: Increase the preservation and visibility of the County's historical collection.
This presentation will update the Board of Supervisors on the progress of the collection review process, selection of the collection review committee, the development of partnerships with cultural organizations and on the community engagement efforts through exhibitions and school tours. |
