Reason for Recommended Action/Background
As part of routine operations, the Yolo County Cannabis Task Force responds to various locations where cannabis is suspected of being illegally cultivated. Once it is determined that the grow site needs to be eradicated, task force members are responsible for the removal and destruction of any cannabis plants. This requires the use of trailers to transport the material from the site to the location where it is destroyed. A dump-side trailer is ideal for this purpose, as it has high sides to conceal the material being transported, and can then be easily and quickly unloaded. Some grow sites are large enough that it requires multiple trips, with multiple trailers to completely remove all of the plants. It was determined that due to the ongoing need for illegal grow plant eradication services, obtaining trailers would be more effective for service provision than continually renting trailers.

During the process of investigating an illegal grow location, task force deputies located a 2014 dump side trailer that had been reported stolen. After contacting the insurance agency, Grange Insurance Association determined that due to the length of time their files on the trailer had been closed, they were willing to donate the trailer to the Cannabis Task Force for use in future abatement activities. Value of the trailer was given at $450.00. The Yolo County Sheriff's Office is now requesting that the Board accept this donation per the Yolo County Administrative Policy and Procedures Manual on donations acceptance.
