Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
At the January 14, 2020 meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved the total project budget of $1,774,617 for improvements at the Knights Landing Boat Launch and the contract with the low bidder, Syblon Reid, in the amount of $1,255,000. However, the design and construction plans were not presented to the Board for adoption pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 20150.12. Therefore, staff is requesting the Board adopt the final plans for the Knights Landing Boat Launch Improvement Project at this time.
As described in previous Board staff reports, the plans for this project were initially prepared under a previous grant award from Department of Boating and Waterways. The engineer did not provide electronic CAD files to the County and was unresponsive to attempts by the Contractors State Licensing Board, County Counsel, and the Parks Division to obtain the files. Therefore, the plans were recreated and updated in 2018 and finalized in 2019. Major improvements for this project include: widening the existing concrete boat ramp; replacing existing floating dock with a gangway and boarding float anchored by a metal cable; installing a vault restroom, water well, and utility hookups; resurfacing parking lot with chip seal and adding new ADA parking stalls; placing riprap along bank of Sycamore Slough and planting new vegetation; and removing wooden dock pilings and concrete debris from Sycamore Slough.
The principal details of the project are included in the plans attached to this Board report. More detailed information, including specifications and working details, are on file with the Clerk of the Board and available for review. |
