Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
Title VI was enacted as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Specific Title VI nondiscrimination provisions apply to National Highway Administration programs and activities of federal-aid recipients, sub-recipients and contractors.
To comply with this federal regulation, staff prepared the attached required Title VI compliance plan (Att. A).The attached plan includes the County's commitment through policies and procedures to ensure that no person is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any of its programs, activities or services on the basis of race, color or national origin. |
