Approve agreement with A & L Services, Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for a one year term, with the potential for three one-year extensions and a maximum total compensation of $400,000, to provide excavation services at various countywide locations. (No general fund impact) (Echiburú/Comingore)
Recommended Action
  1. Approve agreement with A & L Services, Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for a one year term, with the potential for three one-year extensions and a maximum total compensation of $400,000, to provide excavation services at various countywide locations; and
     
  2. Delegate authority to the Director of Public Works to sign the agreement, approve extensions, and to negotiate, sign and execute any additional forms, documents and/or amendments as necessary relating to this Agreement.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Road Maintenance is periodically required to perform minor construction for projects that cannot be accomplished with the equipment owned by the Department of Public Works.  When the projects are too small to be efficiently bid out on an individual basis, this on-call contract allows the County to utilize the services of a contractor to build these minor projects.  The types of project include ditch, slough, levee, and drainage canal maintenance and clean out.

Financial Services Department managed the solicitation for and evaluation of bids.
County Counsel approved the contract as to form.

This contract allows for $100,000 per fiscal year for the duration of the contract, not to exceed $400,000.  Sufficient funds have been included in the 2018/19 road fund budget for the first year.  In future years, funds for this contract will be included in the recommended budgets.
