Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The Yolo Food Bank is a local community based organization that works to end hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County. The Eat Well Yolo program operated by Yolo Food Bank procures and distributes fresh produce to residents of Yolo County weekly or bi-weekly at seventeen locations throughout Yolo County, working with a range of community partners to coordinate the on-site distribution.

Performance Measures included in this Agreement are as follows:

Program Purpose Reduce food insecurity and chronic disease through increase fruit and vegetable consumption.
Program Information
  • Produce food distribution occurs in:
    • Arbuckle on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month
    • Clarksburg on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month
    • Davis on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month
    • Davis on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month
    • Davis at the migrant center on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month (April – September)
    • Dunnigan on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month
    • Esparto on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
    • Guinda on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
    • Knights Landing on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month
    • Madison at the migrant center on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (April – September)
    • Madison on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
    • Winters on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
    • West Sacramento- Yolo County Children’s Alliance weekly on Friday
    • Woodland- Celebration Center Church weekly on Friday
    • West Sacramento- Health and Human Services Agency weekly on Wednesday
    • Woodland Senior Center weekly on Tuesday
    • West Sacramento- Health Education Council Friday
    • Yolo on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
  • There are a total of 488 produce food distributions per year (23 at each bi-weekly site, 14 at the Migrant Centers and 46 at the weekly site)
Yolo Food bank supplies the produce to participating distribution sites listed above.

Competitive Bid Process
This contract is based on a direct award to Yolo Food Bank from the Board of Supervisors during the fiscal year 2018-19 adopted budget hearing. Due to this award, no competitive process was conducted.

These services will be funded by the General Fund and/or Pomona fund in FY 18-19. The amount of $85,000 is included in the HHSA adopted budget for FY 18-19.

Option Years:  The County may exercise its option to extend the term of the Agreement pursuant to Section 2, of the Agreement. In no event shall the term of the Agreement extend beyond June 30, 2023 nor shall the total contract maximum exceed the amount of four hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($425,000), unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the parties and in conformity with the Yolo County Procurement Policy approved by the Yolo County Board of Supervisors on March 20, 2018.
