Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
Probation is a recipient of a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement to house adjudicated unaccompanied children on behalf of the federal government. As part of this grant, Probation agrees to provide clinician services to the federal youth. Probation and Health and Human Services (HHSA) entered into an arrangement where HHSA will staff two clinicians to Probation to provide services to federal youth housed in Probation's juvenile detention facility. This service is previously provided by a contract with the California Forensic Medical Group. On review, it is determined that providing this service using County staff increases the level of service for a reduced cost. HHSA will have County staff begin service shortly before terminating this Contract to provide a period of overlap to transition case plans. The Board is asked to ratify the decision of the Chief to terminate this contract. |
