Recommended Action
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute an additional easement deed to Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for the purpose of updating existing underground cables and installation of new switch gear at 292 W. Beamer Street (commonly known as Planning, Public Works &Environmental Services), and authorize staff to take all necessary steps to finalize and record the easement.
Strategic Plan Goal(s)
Advance innovation
Collaborate to maximize success
Provide fiscally sound, dynamic and responsive services
Reason for Recommended Action/Background
In the continuing effort to provide safe and reliable service to customers, PG&E is updating its electric distribution facilities. While examining connections on various Yolo County owned properties, PG&E discovered issues pertaining to the existing pad-mounted switchgear and cable routing arrangement at 292 W. Beamer Street, Woodland.

Approval of this additional easement deed (Attachment A) will allow PG&E to install updated equipment and new technology to the existing electrical system at 292 W. Beamer Street, Woodland (Attachment B). These updates will provide PG&E the ability to provide additional power to its customers, including Yolo County, in the event of an emergency, resulting in reduced outage minutes and faster restoration times. Furthermore, approval of this easement deed will eliminate the need for PG&E to complete additional trench work on County property, which would disturb traffic flow in the area, and the reduced response times from the divisions currently housed on the property. PG&E has agreed to compensate the County with a one-time payment of $1,000.00, based on a May 2015 valuation estimate (Attachment C).
