Recommended Action |
- Approve and authorize the Chair to sign renewal Agreement with the California Department of Public Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch to receive funding in the amount of $40,000 for the Sexually Transmitted Diseases prevention and control activities for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2019.
- Delegate authority to the Director of Health and Human Services Agency or his/her designee to sign and execute any additional forms, documents and/or Amendments, and approve any corrections and/or changes to exhibits as necessary relating to this Agreement.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Control Branch provides statewide Sexually Transmitted Disease consultation, surveillance, educational, and screening programs aimed at the prevention, treatment, and interruption of sexually transmitted diseases. The mission of the STD Control Branch is to reduce the transmission and impact of sexually transmitted diseases and viral hepatitis in California. The Branch supports prevention efforts through providing statewide leadership, guidance, training, technical assistance, surge capacity and safety net support for delivering services throughout the state.
Approval of this Agreement will allow the Health and Human Services Agency to receive this funding, to be used for evidence-based public health activities to proactively address sexually transmitted diseases within Yolo County, with an emphasis on the prevention and control of infectious syphilis, congenital syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. |
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies) |
County Counsel approved the agreement as to form.
The STD Community Interventions Program enhances partnerships and collaboration with other Yolo County agencies providing sexual health services and organizations that serve higher risk populations. Partners include Planned Parenthood; CommuniCare Health Centers; UCD Cowell Student Health Center; Harm Reduction Services; and local school district educators and nurses.

No general funds are required. The agreement is for fiscal years 2015-16 to 2018-19 for a total amount $40,000 (see table below). This state funding in the amount of $10,000 for fiscal year 2015-16 has been included in the Health and Human Services Agency’s recommended budget. Health and Human Services Agency will budget the funding accordingly in future fiscal year budget requests.
