Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The Yolo County Office of Emergency Services will provide a presentation on fire emergency preparedness in Yolo County and an update on the Yolo County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The CWPP is a strategic plan developed for the County, with the intention of developing a guide to wildfire mitigation, prevention, and preparedness programs and projects. The Yolo County Office of Emergency Services (OES) has partnered with the Yolo County Resource Conservation District (RCD), to develop the plan utilizing subject matter experts and technical advisors in the area of wildfire prevention. The OES and the RCD have received funds via a grant. The steering committee has been formed and met, and an initial stakeholders meeting is planned for the middle of February. The subject matter experts and technical advisors have also been onboarded.
A number of fire-related planning efforts are currently underway in Yolo County in addition to the CWPP. These efforts, including when they are set to come before the Board of Supervisors, are as follows:
- LNU Complex Fire Update: Staff will provide an update on Yolo County's response and recovery to the LNU Complex Fire. (February 23, 2021)
- Board's Emergency Preparedness/Evacuation Subcommittee Update (February 23, 2021)
- Fire Protection Services Long-Term Sustainability: Staff will provide options for long-term sustainability of fire protection services in Yolo County. (Spring 2021)
