Receive update and consider any actions needed to support the COVID-19, a virus in the Coronavirus family, response and recovery strategies, including but not limited to scheduling additional Board meetings and establishing ad hoc Board subcommittees. (No general fund impact) (Blacklock)
Recommended Action
Receive update on the COVID-19, a virus in the Coronavirus family and consider any related actions, including but not limited to:
 
  1. Adding special Board meetings focused on COVID-19 response and recovery on May 12 and 26, 2020;
     
  2. Appoint Supervisors Sandy and Provenza to a Board ad hoc subcommittee with responsibility for Community Benefit Fund matters;
     
  3. Appoint Supervisors Saylor and Villegas to a Board ad hoc subcommittee with responsibility for volunteer recruitment; and
     
  4. Establish Supervisor Chamberlain as the Board liaison to the County's agricultural community on COVID-19 impacts and related matters.

The recommended actions set forth above include adding special meetings in May 2020 that will focus exclusively on COVID-19 matters. Also included are recommendations regarding the establishment of two new Board ad hoc subcommittees with responsibilities and membership as set forth above. The subcommittees would remain in existence until 90 days after the end of the local COVID-19 emergency declaration, unless otherwise directed by the Board. Finally, Supervisor Chamberlain is proposed to serve as a Board liaison to the County agricultural committee on COVID-19 issues, including potential impacts to the agricultural workforce and economy.
