Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Since 2007 Yolo County has broadcast its Board of Supervisor meetings over the Internet, both live and archived. This video is also used by several local municipalities to broadcast over local cable television channels. Over time there have been several upgrades to the audio-video system, the last one being about 10 years ago. The current system uses an older technology that broadcasts in standard definition, and there have been comments from the public that the quality of the broadcasts is not what it should be. There are also issues with the quality within the Board chambers during the Board meetings. The new system being proposed uses high definition technology which will greatly improve the quality of the audio-video system, both in the Board chambers during the meetings and for the broadcasts over the Internet and local cable channels.
