Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Facilities owned, operated, or occupied by Yolo County are fitted with keycard reader mechanisms that controls operation and access to all doors and other internal locations deemed necessary to be secured. Two facilities, currently occupied by the Yolo County District Attorney's Office, use a different system which requires the use of a unique code to gain entrance to secured locations. This technology is antiquated, and provides a possible security risk to staff.

Updating these locations to the technology utilized by other County facilities will allow for improved universal management of access to all secured locations to be improved.  Should the unique keycard be lost or stolen, the access rights of that card can be terminated immediately by General Services staff, including non-business hours, by the staff on-call after hours.
