Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The District Attorney's Office is applying for the Grant Assistance Program (GAP) through California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to combat the underage sale of alcohol.
To combat this issue, DA investigators will conduct 21 operations to insure that local businesses, throughout Yolo County, licensed to sell alcohol are following California's laws and statues. These operations will include decoy's under the age of 21 trying to purchase alcohol from stores within Yolo County, decoy's hanging around the front of a store asking a stranger to purchase them alcohol, and observing bars from a distance, making sure bars within the county are following laws and statutes.
Investigators plan to perform outreach within Yolo County. This outreach will include face to face meetings with the businesses licensed to sell alcohol and talking to high schools and colleges.
The grant funds will be used for overtime, buy funds, equipment, and to send two DA Investigators to a mandatory training. |
Collaborations (including Board advisory groups and external partner agencies) |
With this grant, the District Attorney's office will collaborate with all local Law Enforcement Agencies, an ABC agent, local businesses licensed to sell alcohol, high schools, and colleges within Yolo County.
County Counsel has approved resolution as to form. |
