Recommended Action

Approve a Memorandum of Understanding for a three-year agreement with the Deputy Sheriff's Association.

Fiscal Impact

The fiscal impact of recommended action is $235,513.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The County reached a tentative agreement with the Deputy Sheriff Association and that MOU is included as Attachment A. The primary changes include revisions to educational incentive and training reimbursement (Article 4), shift differential (Article 12), court appearance cancelation (Section 12.1.24), officer-in-charge clarification (Section 12.2.7), bus driver differential (Article 12.2.9), deferred compensation (Section 12.2.11-12), meal breaks (Section 12.2.13), vacation accrual (15.1.3, 15.1.5, elimination of 15.1.9 vacation buy back), pregnancy leave (Section 16.1.16), and retiree medical trust (Article 19). An equity adjustment of 3% is provided for the 17-18 fiscal year (Article 12) with total compensation surveys in years two and three.
