| Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
On or about February 17, 2021, Governor Newsom and California legislative leaders announced immediate action for relief to Californians experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This stimulus funding is being released through the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (“CalWORKs”) Golden State Stimulus (“GSS”) Grant Program to County residents who are in an eligible CalWORKs Assistance Unit. These funds are expected to be released by CalWORKs on March 27, 2020 with payments being issued to qualifying recipients in Spring 2021.
This stimulus funding will consist of one-time payments in the amount of $600 to certain income-eligible households in the community. The Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (“HHSA”) estimates the number of qualifying Yolo County households to be approximately 950 for total estimated stimulus funding of $570,000 for Fiscal Year 2020-21. As these funds were not included in the FY20-21 adopted budget, the attached Budget Resolution is being submitted to add these stimulus funds in the amount of $570,000 to the HHSA Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget. |
