Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The Yolo County Oral Health Strategic Plan 2017-2020 was developed in collaboration with multiple partners including the Oral Health Strategic Plan Steering Committee and a community forum. The plan is divided into four priority areas: Raise Community Awareness About Oral Health, Increase Screening and Prevention Services for Children, Facilitate Local Policies to Promote Oral Health, and Promote Expanded Access for Low-Income Children/Adults.
An oral health needs assessment was completed to guide the development of the Oral Health Strategic Plan. The assessment uncovered serious unmet oral health needs, increasing emergency department visits for dental disease, and increasing caries in children. The assessment also discovered across the board interest in prevention policies to reduce the burden of dental disease. |
