Reason for Recommended Action/Background
With the number of recent emergencies in the County (fires, floods, power shutoffs, etc.), the Yolo County Commission on Aging and Adult Services (YCCAAS) recognized the urgent need for residents to be prepared for the next emergency.  This need is especially important for seniors and persons with disabilities as they represent the majority of fatalities in an emergency. In order to assist with this need, the YCCAAS developed a Disaster Preparedness Subcommittee who volunteered countless hours to learn about the current County practices and resources as well as industry best practices to develop the attached report, recommendations, and background material (Atts. A, B, C).

Additionally, Supervisor Provenza has requested an additional seat be added to the YCCAAS to allow for a commissioner from the City of Winters Commission on Aging. The attached resolution (Att. D) would modify the composition of the YCCAAS accordingly.
