Reason for Recommended Action/Background
With the County's emergency response to Covid-19, there are expenses that need to be covered by the County in order to facilitate response to our residents. Examples of expenditures include personal protective equipment for law, fire and healthcare providers, hand sanitizer, cleaning aids for healthcare workers, supplies to assist in food distribution to home isolated individuals. As the emergency continues to morph, we anticipate more expenditures to be needed, therefore, the attached resolution appropriates $300,000 to the County Administrator's budget as a resource to ensure funds are available as needed and $225,000 to HHSA for use in housing homeless individuals.  County staff will seek reimbursement for these expenditures to the extent allowed by the state and federal agencies including but not limited to California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
