This update will provide information on how Probation and DCSS is providing collaborative services and an update on goals achieved to date.
August 2014 was the inception of the DCSS and the Probation Department's Collaborative Project. It was established to provide efficient child support and probation services to shared participants, engaging the parent in the need to financially support their children and assisting the offender with successful reentry into the community. Probation provides dedicated staff to facilitate probation duties which is included in the plan of cooperation for services. DCSS is reimbursing Probation for employee costs up to $50,000 per year.
Cases that are the focus of this project are identified as those clients who are supervised by the Probation Department and also have an open child support case. Clients who meet both criteria are placed on the DCSS/Probation Collaboration Project List.
The primary goals of the DCSS/Probation Collaborative Project are to:
-
Collect $75,000 in current and past due child support
-
Have at least 66% of program participants make at least one payment within the year (FFY) on their child support arrears.
-
Have 40% of participants with current support owing, start making payments on their current support obligation within the project period.
